When a mosquitoe lands on it's victim it will bite the victim then spreading the virus and infecting the person. Mosquitoes also cary West Nile virus and I think also Lyme disease.
what happened is that the mosquitoes will bite the person that they think has the best blood and then it will traval. you will have an ichy bump that will become red as you scrach it.

He thought bleeding people would get ride of the infected blood. He also thought the heart would produce more blood, but this takes more than just the natural power of the heart.
