What was Philadelphia like in 1793? What were the advantages and disadvantages of living in the countryside outside of Philadelphia?

  1. Philadelphia was the capitol of the United Stats in 1793.It was a large town with markets, and many family owned buisinesses. The city seemed to be orgnized based on social status. Benefits of living there in 1793 were that you could walk to the market instead of driving 5 miles to Shaw's or Walmart. Families needed everyone to work hard,so you didn't end up with many lazy children. Some disadvantages were that disease spread like wildfire, and you couldn't escape it in time (usually). The poor were not properly taken care of and there were no treatments or proffessional doctors to take care of the disease, and a lot of people died.

  2. it was really different in 1793. Philadelpha was the capital of the United States. Back then you could walk to the market to buy your food. You didn't have to drive to Wal-Mart or Shaw's. There are both advantages and disadvantages. An advantage was that you didn't have to spend money on gas or diseal. But of course you didn't have fuel back then. A disadvantage is that diseases spread really fast. If one of the farmers at the market was sick, then pretty soon, the whole city would be sick. That farmer would have touched every single persons food int that whole city. Also, most people weren't properly treated when they got sick. So they usually died because they were to far away from a place where they was the proper doctors. So ther were many advantages and disadvantages of living on the country side of Philadalpha.

  4. Life in Philadelphia was different from today. They didn't have stores like Wal-Mart, or banks. They had to go down to a market, and peopple had stands and sold food to the people of the city.

  6. Philadelphia was very different in 1793. It wasn't as sanatary and clean as today. Diseases spread easier and medicine wasn't as advanced. People sold food in the market instead of in stores. Bleeding people was the major treatment and killed many people. People were already weak from the disease and couldn't afford to lose blood. The disease haden't reachedd the countryside yet so moving out there was a plus. It was also cleaner and had fresh air.
